EAST RENFREWSHIRE HERITAGE SERVICE

Specialising in local and family history for the whole of East Renfrewshire, the ERHS is part of East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure. Its collections include censuses, parish registers, history books and newspapers, available at Giffnock Library and the library at Barrhead Foundry.

HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT SCOTLAND

This lead public body investigates, cares for and promotes Scotland’s historic environment. It’s responsible for more than 300 properties of national importance, including Edinburgh Castle. It also invests around £14 million a year in repairs and archaeological and conservation work.

This celebration of Scottish archaeology explores the past through song, art, performance and storytelling. Coordinated by the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and Archaeology Scotland, its events range from locals exploring the story of their area to digs, festivals, competitions and even Minecraft.

ASSOCIATION OF CERTIFICATED FIELD ARCHAEOLOGISTS

The Association of Certificated Field Archaeologists (ACFA) was formed in 1987. Its membership comprises holders of the University of Glasgow Certificate in Field Archaeology, awarded by the Department of Adult & Continuing Education, now the Centre for Open Studies.

For over 155 years, the society has been fostering public awareness of the importance of archaeology in increasing our understanding of the past through its programme of lectures, field visits and other lectures. The society co-hosts the Dalrymple Lectures with the University of Glasgow.
