{"id":17682,"date":"2020-11-12T08:54:06","date_gmt":"2020-11-12T08:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.eagleshamhs.com\/home\/?p=17682"},"modified":"2024-02-15T11:11:13","modified_gmt":"2024-02-15T11:11:13","slug":"60th-anniversary-britains-first-area-architectural-historical-interest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/new.eagleshamhs.com\/home\/news\/60th-anniversary-britains-first-area-architectural-historical-interest\/","title":{"rendered":"60th Anniversary of Britain\u2019s first area of architectural and historical interest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eaglesham History Society and The Regeneration of Eaglesham\u2019s Environment (TREE) were delighted to receive a copy of the Early Day Motion put down by our MP Kirsten Oswald to commemorate an historic moment in the village\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>The motion celebrated the moment on 12 August 1960 when Secretary of State for Scotland, John Maclay, set a precedent by listing all the old houses as a group in the highest category of buildings of historic and architectural interest under the Town and Country Act 1947.<\/p>\n<p>Some 51 buildings of architectural and historical interest were included in the preservation order, which was the first in Scotland and the United Kingdom.
